Raseborg Castle AR Diorama

Made for the Aalto University MeMo Institute
Raseborg Castle in Southern Finland modelled in Blender based on 3D scanned castle ruins and museum miniature for use in AR diorama, where the model was tracked onto a large kappa board. The UI was made in Unity and allowed the user to toggle between the measurements and the bespoke model, and to separate the floors of the latter. The AR diorama has been displayed in several exhibits around Helsinki.

I was provided the measured 3D model of the ruins and took part in the measuring of the miniature at the EKTA museum in Ekenäs. I then recreated the castle in Blender, with interiors extrapolated from the ruins based on discussions with the museum staff. Finally, I brought it all into Unity and made a UI and some simple logic for the interactions. The AR functionality was done with Arilyn AR.
